San Pedro (Ambergris Caye)
Diving is nothing short of phenomenal in Belize's Barrier Reef, which runs parallel to Ambergris Caye. In the crystalline Caribbean waters, octopuses, nurse sharks, spotted eagle rays, and even sea turtles play among beautiful corals. But that's just the beginning. On this 40-km/25-m island, you can also sail, fish, kayak, bicycle, windsurf, snorkel, or take day trips to mainland nature or archaeological sites. This laid-back island has almost no cars, but you'll have no trouble reaching the many restaurants, tiki bars, and dive shops in San Pedro Town on foot, by bicycle, or even by golf cart. Choose the north end of the island for a quieter experience.

Explore the breathtaking marine life flourishing in the Hol Chan Marine Reserve, and dive its natural cut, 1-9 metres (330 feet) deep, through the reef. Hol Chan, which means "Little Channel" in Mayan, features an opulent coral garden, including stag horn corals and sea fans, where myriad sea creatures live and feed. Watch as harmless nurse sharks and graceful southern stingrays ply the shallow, crystalline waters in the aptly named Shark Ray Alley passage. Divers and snorkelers make this a must-do trip while in Belize.

Enjoy a visual feast of thriving marine life as you go snorkeling at Mexico Rocks, just off North Ambergris Caye. View a delightful collection of sponges, sea fans, and star, elkhorn, and staghorn coral formations in this superb reef patch. Giant brain coral formations create miniature undersea habitats and islands for spiny lobster and yellow tail. As you bob about, look for angelfish, butterflyfish, flounder, green moray eels, nurse sharks, and stingrays, all of which take shelter in the coral's nooks and crannies. Its relatively calm and shallow (3.7-meter / 12-foot) waters make Mexico Rocks an ideal spot for novice snorkelers.

Cacao Trail Tour & Blue Creek Cave Adventure
Learn the secrets of traditional Maya chocolate making and later go on a swimming odyssey in an alluring river cave. Start your eco-tour in orchards where cacao (chocolate) grows in the shade of native trees and alongside pineapple, coffee, papaya, avocado, and allspice crops. A Kek'chi farmer walks you through all the steps that transform cacao into delicious, Maya Gold organic chocolate, inspired by the local Maya "kuhkuh" drink. You'll learn about growing and harvesting the cacao pods, and roasting and grinding the beans. Top it off by savouring the rich aroma and delicious flavour of hot chocolate made the traditional way. After this experience you will then continue on to Blue Creek Village to explore a nearby limestone cave full of crystal-clear mineral pools. Reach the cave by hiking roughly 20 minutes through lush jungle and upstream along the banks of the blue-green river. Climb over rocks and roots in the last 91 metres (100 yards) of the journey, the most challenging. Near the cave, the river breaks into gentle falls and beautiful pools for swimming. Marvel at the formation's gaping entrance and swim upstream toward the cave's interior. Your guide provides headlamps and life jackets. Bring a swimsuit, towel, and sturdy rubber shoes that can get wet.
Includes: Transfers, guide, entrances, cacao processing, cacao drink tasting, lunch with Maya family, and afternoon swimming at Blue Creek.

If you love food, the ocean, and snorkeling, you don't want to miss this delicious adventure out to the Gulf of Honduras! Head out aboard a quiet, comfy riverboat and cruise down the river with captain Jackie Young, an expert guide, barman, and talented cook. Once you hit the open sea, Captain Jackie will choose the best spot to spend your morning snorkeling. See an impressive array of sea life and coral, and watch the crew dive for conch, lobster, crab, and maybe even spear some lionfish, an invasive species that happens to be delicious! The shaded river cruiser is outfitted with tables and benches, a grill, and easy access steps into the water so you can spend as much time onboard, in the sun, or in the water as you wish. After snorkeling, your onboard barman will mix up a tropical drink, or serve you a cold Belikin beer or a glass of crisp white wine. Toast to the good life while the day's catch becomes the day's lunch! Snorkeling with a lifejacket is suitable for adults and children with limited or no swimming ability.
