Icheri Sheher - visit an old ethnic village


Day 1 Baku
Arrival transfer.

Day 2 Baku
Today visit city’s main landmark - Icheri Sheher. See some historical monuments including the Maiden Tower - the symbol of Baku city. Later go to National Carpet Museum with its rich collection of oriental carpets. Sightseeing tour continues with Martyr’s Cemetery, located on the higher slopes of the city’s west-end. Have a walk along Baku Boulevard, the second largest in Europe. Take a boat and make a trip along Baku Bay where the local guide will give you some interesting facts and legends about the largest lake in the world better known as Caspian Sea.

Day 3 Baku - Gobustan (70km/1h)
Visit the Gobustan reserve - an open-air museum littered with Neolithic rock drawings. Gobustan has some 4000 inscriptions that go back 12,000 years. Visit also a quite a unique site where 300 of the planets estimated 700 mud volcanoes sit. Many mud tourists, as well as locals and s trek to such places as the Firuz Crater, Gobustan, Salyan and end up happily covered in mud which is thought to have medicinal qualities.

Day 4 Baku - Ismayilli (180km/3h)
Departure to Ismayilli, lying at the foot of the Great Caucasian Mountains - the land of rivers, lakes and waterfalls. The itinerary crosses Lagich village famous for its skilful craftsmen. This village is inhabited by hereditary braziers, tanners, engravers, potters, and blacksmiths, metal and wood carvers. See the bridge connecting two villages, the stone water-pipe of the 16th century and specimens of dwellings of the 19th century with wall paintings.

Day 5 Baku - Guba (170km/3h)
Departure to Guba and visit Juma Mosque, Sakina khanum Mosque and Carpet-weaving workshop, to see how carpets are woven. In Gachresh village, enjoy the beautiful nature and also taste shashlik or order some other dish of traditional cuisine.

Day 6 Baku
Transfer to the airport.
