The Great Silk Road - travel along the Great Silk Road from the Caspian to the Black Sea
The busiest trade route of the past and the busiest tourist route of today! The road existed since the 2nd century BC and for centuries was an important trade link between East and West. It connected the Caspian Sea with the Trans-Caucasus, crossing Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia and reaching Rome and Byzantium via the Black Sea. The Silk Road was a great incentive for the development of culture and economy of the Caucasus countries.

Day 1 Yerevan
Arrive at Yerevan Airport. Transfer to your hotel and accommodation.

Day 2 Yerevan – Echmiadzin (30km/30min) – Yerevan
In the morning we drive to Echmiadzin - the religious centre of Armenia. After visiting the main cathedral there we continue to St Hripsime Church and Zvartnots Temple. On returning to Yerevan we visit the Armenian Brandy factory.

Day 3 Yerevan – Garni (30km/1h) – Geghard (10km/20min) – Yerevan (40km/1h)
Today we visit Matenadaran – the library of ancient manuscripts. Then we head to Garni, a pagan temple and a summer residence for Armenian royalty. From Garni a short drive will bring us to Geghard Cave Monastery. In the evening we return to Yerevan.

Day 4 Yerevan – Lake Sevan – Tbilisi (290km/5h)
We travel to Lake Sevan – the highest fresh-water lake in the Caucasus and visit Sevanavank Monastery perched on the rocky peninsula. After lunch we visit Sanahin Monastery and Haghpat Monastery and continue to the Armenian-Georgian border. In the evening we arrive in Tbilisi.

Day 5 Tbilisi
Tbilisi sightseeing tour, visit the Old Town and the State Museum Treasury.

Day 6 Tbilisi – Mtskheta (70km/1,30h) – Gudauri (60km/1h)
We drive to Mtskheta - the ancient capital and religious centre of Georgia and visit its historic Jvari Monastery and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Then we drive up the famous Georgian Military Highway, en route visiting the Ananuri complex. Overnight in Gudauri.

Day 7 Gudauri – Kazbegi (40km/1h) – Gudauri
A stunning drive will bring us to the town of Kazbegi and then walk up through beautiful valleys and woodland to Gergeti Trinity Church located at 2170m. We then drive through the dramatic Dariali gorge before returning to Gudauri.

Day 8 Gudauri – Kutaisi (300km/4h)
From Gudauri we travel to West Georgia and visit Gelati Monastery and Bagrati Cathedral. Overnight in Kutaisi.

Day 9 Kutaisi – Gori (150km/2,30h) – Tbilisi (80km/1,30h)
We drive to the town of Gori and visit the Stalin Museum and Uplistsikhe Cave Town – an important point along the Great Silk Road. In the evening we return to Tbilisi.

Day 10 Tbilisi – Telavi (100km/2h)
We travel to the wine-growing region of Kakheti. We visit the farmer’s wine-cellar and a wine factory to taste delicious Georgian wines. Overnight in Telavi.

Day 11 Telavi – Sheki (200km/3,30h)
On the way to the Georgian-Azerbaijani border we visit Gremi complex. From the border we continue our trip to the town of Sheki.

Day 12 Sheki – Shemakha (180km/3h) – Baku (120km/2h)
The sightseeing tour of Sheki includes a visit to Caravanserai, Khan’s Palace and local market. Then we continue to Baku en route visiting the town of Shemakha. Overnight in Baku.

Day 13 Baku
Baku sightseeing program – we visit Gobustan ruins, Shirvanshah Palace, Maiden's Tower and Ateshgah Fire-Worshippers' Temple.

Day 14 Baku
Transfer to the airport for your final departure.
